Welcome to
Baby Bodkin's Blankie Blog!

As I am sure some of you already know, we are creating a baby blankie (quilt) for Lindsay and Baby Bodkin. By now, you should have received your fabric square to create your piece of the blanket, but if not don't panic... it is on it's way!

This webpage is designed to help inspire and spark your imagination while giving you ideas on Lindsay's color scheme and theme for the baby room. We have also included images of Lindsay's baby blankie that I received when she was born. You can create anything you want for your square. The only thing I ask is that you stick within the color scheme of the room.

Because we had too many squares to create one blanket, we have decided to make Baby Bodkin two quilts. They both follow pretty much the same color scheme, but we will provide images of both to help show which quilt you are working on.

Please have the squares to me by March 1, 2009, so that I can have the quilts put together before I go to Japan for Baby Bodkin's birth! Also, let me know if you have any questions or if you need any help... that is what I am here for! Have fun being creative!

Love,
Devorah

First off, here are the pictures of the quilt I was given when Lindsay was born 25 years ago. I am only showing you these images to give you an idea of what the finished product can look like. Please don't follow the color scheme from this quilt!!!

Here are pictures of example squares from Lindsay's quilt. Some of the squares added the name of the family who created it, and others added texture by using ribbon and other fabrics. They all looked great!

Now, here are a few pictures of the bedding they picked for the baby room. The images are still up on Pottery Barn Kids' website, but they are on sale and I wasn't sure when they would take it down. Feel free to go to their website for a more up close look while they are still up. Click on the link below and it will take you directly to the bedding.

Ok, now for the fun part! Below are images of the actual fabric we are using to create the blankets. To simplify things, we have numbered the blankets #1 and #2.

QUILT #1
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Your fabric has a #1 with it and looks like this...

Now the number one fabrics come in two different colors; a yellow stripe and a green stripe. If your stripes are yellow, please do your square with the lines going horizontally. If your stripes are green, please have your lines going in a vertical direction. Now here is an image of all of the fabrics that will be used in your quilt...

The trim will have baby animals on it and look like this...

The back and front edges of the quilt will be done in this pale green nubby fabric which is incredibly soft!

QUILT #2

Now if your fabric has no pattern, is pale green, has a #2 and looks like this....

The your quilt will be made with these fabrics...

This is the trim that will be used to enclose each square...

And finally this is the fabric for the back and front edges of your quilt.
